For airline passengers flying to, from within or over France, 18 and 19 September are the key dates. French air-traffic controllers belonging to the SNCTA union will walk out from the start of the morning shift on 18 September to the end of the night shift on 19 September.

SNCF: Three unions call for strike on September 18. 2025

 

Rail disruptions are expected on September 18. In a joint statement, the CGT-Cheminots, Unsa-Ferroviaire, and CFDT-Cheminots unions, which together accounted for 70% of the vote in the last professional elections, are calling on all railway workers to mobilize through strikes and to participate in demonstrations.

A movement part of a national mobilization

While Sud-Rail did not sign the text, the union had already launched its own call for a strike on September 10, as part of the “Block Everything” movement. September 18 is part of a broader inter-union mobilization, called by the CFDT, CGT, FO, UNSA, and other organizations, aimed at influencing the government after the vote of confidence requested by François Bayrou. Two dates have now been marked by the unions: September 10, with an initial test of mobilization, then September 18, a national day of action where trains are expected to be significantly slowed. Passengers will have to prepare for a tense return to work on the rail network.
