私が旅行代理店に入社した当時は、旅行前に事前に査証（ビザ）の付与を受けずに旅行出来た国（但し滞在期間は数日間〜2週間、数ケ月程度）は

アジアでは自由港の香港とシンガポールしかなかったです、西欧州は概ねほとんど国がいわゆるノービザで旅行出来ました

あの自由の国アメリカでさえ、旅行前に査証（ビザ）の付与を受ける為に、当時の神戸（三宮）のアメリカ領事館へせっせとビザ申請・受領の為に出掛けていました、此れが多くの旅行代理店の現場課員の日課でした

日本人の年末年始の定番観光旅行地の男性天国の韓国、台湾や家族旅行の定番ハワイ（アメリカ）へ出掛けるにはビザ取得が必要でしたので、そのビザ取りに旅行代理店の出番は大いに在りました

以下の表で

驚く事があります、なんと日本は英国（１９８８年７月）に続いて世界で２番目にアメリカへのノービザ渡航が許されたんです１９８８年（１２月）

英国はアメリカの兄貴分ですから１番目は理解できますが、アメリカに刃向かった敗戦国日本が世界で２番目（と言っても英国と同年です）、日独伊同盟のドイツ、イタリアが１９８９年です、なんとアジアでのアメリカの同盟国と云って憚らない韓国はなんと、日本に遅れる事２０年後の２００８年です
